About Us

A Christ-Centered Learning Community

The Cedar School is a Christ-centered, classical school serving homeschool families in the Palm Beach County area. We use a collaborative, University-Model®–inspired approach that combines structured classroom instruction with guided learning at home.

Students attend classes on our central campus part of the week and complete assignments at home on remaining days under the support of their parents. Our teachers provide academic leadership by designing lessons, setting academic expectations, monitoring progress, and guiding instruction, while parents remain actively engaged in their child’s daily learning and spiritual formation.

In this partnership, the school provides academic structure and oversight, allowing parents to focus on discipleship, family life, and nurturing a love of learning within the home.

Beginning in Fall 2026, Cedar School will launch as a pilot foundational year serving grades Kindergarten through 5th, with plans for thoughtful growth in the years ahead.

What's in Our Name?

Cedars are often used in Scripture as symbols of strength, faithfulness, and endurance—planted firmly and growing steadily over time. Our prayer is that Cedar School would reflect these same qualities, nurturing students who are deeply rooted in truth and prepared to stand strong in faith and learning for years to come.

Our Story

The Cedar School was born from a shared experience: the joy, the weight, and the complexity of homeschooling. As mothers who have lived the classical path, we know what it feels like to carry the burden of educating our children while striving to do it all perfectly. Through years of practice, prayer, and learning, we discovered a better way—one rooted not in striving, but in Christ, in community, and in Sabbath rhythms of rest.

From this place of experience, we realized families don’t need to carry the load alone, nor surrender their God-given authority over their children’s education. The Cedar School exists to walk alongside homeschool families, offering guidance, structure, and support while honoring parents as the primary educators of their children.

Emerging from the mission of Everyday Mission, our school carries a biblical foundation and Kingdom values that foster spiritual maturity, wisdom, and faithful learning. We are committed to raising students who are deeply rooted in Christ, confident in their identity, and equipped to flourish without conforming to the culture of performance and striving.

Inspired by Scripture—“The righteous will flourish like a cedar of Lebanon” (Psalm 92:12)—The Cedar School exists to cultivate students who grow deep roots in Christ, stand firm in wisdom and character, and live with purpose, joy, and rest in the Kingdom of God.

Our Mission

The mission of Cedar School is to partner with homeschool families to form students on the foundation of Christ, marked by rigorous learning and faithful obedience, within a Christ-centered community that cultivates freedom from performance-driven striving amid the weight of academic expectations.

Our Vision

We envision a generation rooted in Christ and freed from the burden of performance-driven striving—students who pursue wisdom, walk confidently in their God-given identity, and shape culture with truth, courage, and grace for the glory of God.

We Envision Students Who:

  • Are deeply rooted in biblical truth and the foundation of Christ
  • Walk confidently in their identity in Christ, free from performance-driven striving
  • Pursue excellence in learning and character through faithful obedience
  • Lead with integrity, humility, and courage in community
  • Apply wisdom creatively and courageously in every sphere of life
  • Engage culture with truth and grace for the glory of God

A longtime homeschooling mother, mentor, and passionate advocate for family discipleship, Amber is the mother of three adult children and has been married to her college sweetheart for 32 years. She had the joy of homeschooling her children through their collegiate years using the classical method, experiencing firsthand the impact of a rich, faith-centered education within the home.

The Lord placed it on her heart to share the simple systems, strategies, and wisdom that served her family so well with the next generation of parents raising Generation Alpha and Generation Beta. Today, Amber is honored to oversee the Cedar School community, helping equip families to pursue a rich education rooted in faith, goodness, beauty, and truth.

From the youngest child to the oldest, Amber believes family discipleship has the power to shape more than a child's education—it can establish a lasting legacy. She is honored to walk alongside families as they cultivate faith, pursue wisdom, and build a legacy for generations to come.

Over the year

Danielle Powell is a teacher and curriculum developer with experience in homeschool education, Christian private school education, and the corporate world, where she worked for an engineering firm. As a mother of six, her perspective on education has also been deeply shaped by teaching and learning alongside her own children.

Over the years, Danielle discovered that her greatest passion is not simply teaching curriculum, but developing it. She feels called to create Christ-centered curriculum that encourages children to wonder, explore, think deeply, and recognize God throughout what they are learning.

At Cedar School, Danielle brings together her experiences as a mother, homeschool educator, classroom teacher, and curriculum developer to create meaningful learning experiences rooted in Scripture. Her desire is to help children develop a genuine love of learning while continually discovering the beauty, wisdom, and order of God’s creation.
